About the LoveLine Dating Service

How does it work?

This service is a voice based (telephone) premium rate service. Calls are charged at R10 a minute. There are no additional membership or subscribtion fees attached to this service. The service works by using registered members’ profiles and voice messages to match them with other members who are compatible with the kind of people they have told us they would like to meet. When matches are found the system places their profile messsages in a member’s private inbox on the system. All members need to do; to listen to these messages is dial in to check if they have matches. If members are interested in any of the potential matches that have been made, they can then start communicating directly through the service. Only compatible matches can hear members profile messages. The service is completely confidential and only members decide when they would like to exchange contact information to set up a date. This service is not affiliated with any other online or mobile based dating service.

What happens to personal information?

The information that members enter on the system to generate their profile is used exclusively for locating compatible matches on the system inline with the kind of people that members have said they would like to meet. This information is completely confidential and contact information is never shared between users by the system.Users are the only people that can decide to share personal information with each other. No information from the system is ever used for other marketing purposes, shared or sold to other 3rd party companies of any kind.

Using the Service

The service is designed to be simple to register and use and should be easy to operate through the (mobile) phone system. When interacting with the system after the initial registration, it is important that members always use the same phone that they used when registering on the system for the first time, this is how members are recognised and identified by the system. However we know that sometimes people need some assistance. Safety advice for Dating

We hope to make dating enjoyable for all our members and make every effort to provide a high level of privacy and security for the service. While the vast majority of people can be trusted, you must be aware that there have been cases when dating services have been used for wrong purposes. For instance, some users join the site but aren't looking for dating. Instead they may use your personal details to send unwanted advertisements or ask for money (which is known as a scam). To prevent yourself from undesirable contacts we have compiled a list of tips below to help you be on the safe side.

Trust Your Instincts

Our instincts are always trying to tell us something. Learn to trust them. Too many of us don't trust our instincts and ignore them, sometimes to our own detriment. If at any point you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, walk away for your own safety and protection. Watch out for anyone who seems too good to be true. Begin by communicating solely via the phone based dating service, and look for odd behaviour or inconsistencies in their profile or conversation or actions. The person at the other end may not be who or what he or she says they are.

Don't Provide Personal Information Too Soon

Never give out your full name, home address, telephone number or any other sensitive personal information unless you know who you're dealing with. Armed with just your home phone number, a person can easily gain access to your income information, home address, and even learn the value of your home. This service works using an anonymous phone system where none of your personal information is made available to other members. You can send and receive messages and replies via our phone system. Take your time getting to know people better and develop a trusting relationship before you exchange personal information.

Be Cautious

Never let your guard down. Some people take advantage of those looking for love and/or friendships by befriending people and trying to scam them. These scams range from illegal advertisements, redirection to other services where you have to pay or asking for credit card details or money. Be cautious of members whose profiles state they are from one country but the person tells you they are from another. Often a female scammer will describe herself as "god fearing, real, honest, sincere, loving, and genuine". Be aware that male scammers also exist, often they tell you that they have a great job and that they sometimes have to travel and stay away from their homes for long periods of time.
They all have a similar sad hard luck tale to tell which could be very emotional and easily gain sympathy and affection from the victim. Don't open your hearts and wallets to them. Meet somewhere Safe

When you're ready to meet someone, arrange to meet in a busy, well-lit public place. Let someone know where you are going, how you are getting there, when you are expected to arrive and when you are expected home. Tell them where you are at regular intervals on your date. Never arrange for your date to pick you up at home. Provide your own transportation, meet in a public place at a time when there will be plenty of people around, and when the date is over, leave on your own.
On your date drink responsibly and keep your wits about you. If you plan to meet somewhere you haven't been before do your own research and arrange your own travel and accommodation. If you feel uncomfortable at any point make sure you have a back up plan to use.
